Maa Durga

“Mahishasur” was an “Asur”, He was a buffalo demon. He was the grandson of Maharishi Kashyap, and son of Rambh and a buffalo, that was the reason he could shape shifting his body to man and buffalo. He got a boon from “Lord Brahma – The Creator”, that no men either Devta or Daanav can kill Mahishasur. So after that boon Mahishasur attacked on Heaven, and defeated “Indra” and all other devtas. He took possession of heaven. Then Indra and other Devtas went to Tridev and ask for the solution of victory over Mahishasur. Then “Maa Parvati” took the form of “Maa Durga”, after taking the form of Maa Durga, “Lord Shiv” gave her “Trishul”, “Lord Vishnu” gave her “Chakra”, Indra gave her “Vajra”. “Sun” gave her a “Sheild”, “Sword”, and a “Divine Lion”. And “Lord Vishwakarma” gave her an unbreakable armor, and adorned her with many small – big weapons.

Mahishasur Mardini

Then Maa Durga went to Mahishasur and challanged him. At that time Maa Durga killed 6 Crore Sixty Lakhs Asurs. And after a huge war of 9 Days, this war finally got a result on 10th day. And the result was the death of Mahishasur. So after that we celebrate the Tenth Day of Navratri as “Vijayadashami”.

When Ravan kidnapped “Devi Sita”, “Lord Ram” went to Lanka with the help of Monkey’s Army. Lord Ram told Ravan many times that give me my Sita back, and I assure you that I will go back to Ayodhya without harm you. But Ravan refused this offer every time, and a huge battle took place there. In that battle Lord Ram killed “Kumbhkarna” (Brother of Ravan), “Lord Lakshman” killed “Meghnath” (Son of Ravan).

At last when all the soldiers of Ravan’s Army killed, then Lord Ram killed Ravan. So for this occasion too we celebrate Dussehra.

From the day of Dussehra, the festival of Diwali starts. We celebrate Diwali exactly after 20 days Days of Dussehra.
